We generate results for our customers
I want to dive into the world of brand photography – specifically, how to plan a shoot that tells your story and leaves a lasting impression.
Let’s be honest, good photos are powerful. They grab attention, evoke emotions, and can make all the difference in connecting with your audience. But here’s the thing: just any photos won’t do. You need professional branding photography that reflects your personality, values, and what sets you apart.
Now, planning a brand shoot takes some thought and a little effort upfront goes a long way.
1. Know Your Story
Before you even think about lighting or locations, take a step back and consider the bigger picture. What story do you want your brand to tell through this professional branding photography? What do you want potential clients and customers to know about you? Think about your personality, your values, and what inspires your work.
Focusing on these broad stories helps shape everything from colour palettes to shot lists. It gives the direction and purpose of your photos.
Action Item: Grab a pen and brainstorm! Write down 5-6 questions that will help you flesh out your brand story. Here are a few examples to get you started:
- Who are you? (Think personality, tone, style, and inspirations)
- Who is your ideal client? (How do you collaborate with them?)
- What are your influences?
- What is your creative process?
- How do you want to promote your business? (What kind of photos would be helpful?)
2. Planning is Key
Once you have a handle on your brand story, it’s time to translate that into a concrete plan. This includes everything from locations and props to outfits and even poses. Here are some additional tips:
- Location: Think about where you want to shoot. Does your brand feel more at home in a sleek studio setting, a cosy coffee shop, or maybe even outdoors? Choose a location that reflects you! If this becomes tough for you consult our branding photographers, who will give you perfect suggestions for this.
- Wardrobe Wonderland: Don’t underestimate the power of clothing! Choose outfits that make you feel confident and represent your brand aesthetic.
- Shot List Savvy: Work to create a shot list that captures all the essential elements of your brand story.
Remember: Don’t be afraid to get creative! The more thought you put into the planning stage, the better your photos will represent your unique brand. Sometimes you have to ‘exaggerate to illustrate’ to make your professional branding photography pop!
