A family photo shoot can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be like that. At Geoff Fisher Photography, we want you to feel relaxed and enjoy the experience.
Choose the right location for outdoor portraits amidst the natural beauty of our city. If you prefer the comfort of your own home or a familiar park nearby, let’s go there. I can suggest locations that perfectly suit your family’s style.
Timing is Everything (Almost). Photographers rave about the “golden hour,” for good reason. That magical time right before sunset that casts a warm, flattering light. While this is a great option, sometimes little kids need to be fed around then! We can work together to find a time that works best for you, keeping in mind those little ones might do well with a quick drink and a sandwich to keep them on track.
Preparing Your Home (If That’s Your Chosen Spot). Don’t stress about perfection! A quick tidying to remove any clutter or distractions beforehand is all that’s necessary. I’m a pro at working with your space to create beautiful, natural photos. Sometimes, minor adjustments might be made during editing to ensure a clean and polished final look.
What to Bring (It’s All About Personalisation). Depending on the location and your preferences, please bring a few props to personalise the shoot. A favourite family blanket or a beloved toy for younger children can be a great way to add a touch of personality and comfort. Consider your children’s ages and interests,’ and throw in some things to distract or get focus.
Dress to Impress… Yourself. The key to looking your best in your family portraits is to feel comfortable and confident. Avoid over busy patterns and logos that distract from the natural beauty of your family. Classic styles and neutral colours are always a safe bet, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour or a favourite accessory to show off your unique personality.
What to Expect During the Session (Relax, It’ll Be Fun!)
My goal is to make this a fun and relaxed experience for everyone involved. I’ll provide gentle guidance on poses and interactions to capture those natural, authentic moments that truly shine through in photographs. Depending on the location and the number of people participating, the session can take up to two hours.
After the Session (It’s Time to See the Magic!). A few days after your photo shoot, I’ll present you with a selection of carefully curated photographs. Then, you can select your favourites to be delivered in prints or digital files, ready to display with pride and share with loved ones.
